The Kokmaisа Festival celebrates spring and the young green of the steppe, reflecting the richness of Kazakh gastronomy. In the historic Ulytau region, visitors from across Kazakhstan can sample traditional dishes, including kumis — a fermented mare’s milk prized for its unique flavour and health benefits, take part in workshops on crafts and ancient recipes, and experience traditional rituals accompanied by ethnic music and dance. The festival’s special value lies in reviving forgotten traditions and promoting Kazakh culture by creating a vibrant and unique atmosphere.
