Kymyzmuryndyk Ethnofestival and Zholan Zhuyrigi International Horse Race

Ethnofestival «Kymyzmuryndyk» and the International Horse Race «Zholan Zhuyrigi» are set for this summer in the Almaty Region, combining the traditions of the Kazakh steppe with a lively celebration. The festival centres on kumis — a traditional fermented mare’s milk known for its distinct flavour and cultural significance, as well as national customs and equestrian sports. Its main aim is to preserve cultural heritage and strengthen community ties. Visitors can enjoy fresh kumis tastings, games, workshops, craft stalls, and horse competitions. The event’s standout feature is the Zholan Zhuirigi races, offering a real prize fund and capturing the spirit of an authentic steppe race.
